Barley Products
Pearled barley undergoes a controlled abrasion process that removes the outer bran layers, producing a smooth, ivory-coloured grain with a softer texture and shorter cook time than hulled barley. The pearling process creates a more neutral flavour profile ideally suited to soups, stews, creamy risotto-style dishes, and side dishes where a clean barley taste without pronounced earthiness is preferred. Sourced from Western Canadian farms in Non-GMO and conventional grades.
Basic Grain's pearled barley is processed to a consistent degree of pearling, ensuring uniform cook time and texture across every production batch. Our quality assurance programme verifies colour, moisture, and broken grain percentage so you can count on a clean, consistent finished product every time.
